Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all!

What a Christmassy couple of days it’s been πŸ™‚ Friday was my last day at work and it was relatively quiet.

Nevertheless I received another unexpected gift from one of my team members, which was a nice surprise.

On the morning of Christmas Eve, Pikachu popped by our home in PokΓ©mon Go πŸ˜›

Elle and I also continued a couple of traditions of ours… the first being Christmas Eve Boxes.

These are boxes of fun little trinkets for us to enjoy on Christmas Eve. Things like hot cocoa, a Christmassy bath bomb from Lush, warm fluffy slippers to wear, some chocolate treats to eat, a tiny bottle of Baileys etc.

The other Christmas tradition of ours is getting Chinese take-away for dinner. We’ve done this every Christmas Eve since we’ve lived together πŸ™‚

Which brings us to Christmas day! Elle and I kicked off the day by opening our stockings in bed. There were lots of nice little trinkets in them too.

Then Elle cooked up some blueberry pancakes and bacon for breakfast, which were delicious.

After that we drove off to her parents for the first half of the day, which involved the usual exchange of presents. My mother-in-law is extremely generous and always showers us with gifts, so I came away with quite a few nice things.

Then came the traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings.

In the afternoon we watched Frozen on TV and then we made our way to my parents’ place to spend the evening. It was great as the whole family was over, and we ended up playing Guess Who in a small circle with Christmas music playing in the background… I always find it fun to play a game with everyone to avoid us all staring at the TV in silence. It just seems like a more lively atmosphere.

As usual, there was food aplenty.

There have been some great gifts this year. And although I know material presents are not the point of Christmas, it’s still nice to receive and enjoy them πŸ™‚

It’s almost midnight as I write this and I’m unwinding at home on the couch with a glass of Jack Daniel’s Honey and ice. Its been a full and fun-packed day for us and I hope that you’ve all had a great time, whatever you’ve been doing.

Merry Christmas, everyone! πŸ™‚
