A Grey August

I think it’s safe to say that 2017’s summer doesn’t hold a candle to 2016’s.

The odd spell of sunshine here and there has been dramatically offset by the amount of chilly weather, grey skies, and rain. Luckily, there is a ray of sunshine that continues to shine no matter what. My family.

The responsibility of caring for a baby are every bit as involved and challenging as I anticipated. I do it gladly, as does my wife Elle. We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but it is so worth it.

Zack is seven months old now and he’s on the verge of crawling and saying his first word. We’ve had some trouble with teething but everything still seems to be forming beneath the gums. In the meantime, he’s getting to try lots of new exciting foods.

The last couple of weeks have been a busy mix of parenting and working. I’m not going to lie… I’ve been relying a little too much on caffeine to get me through some days. Especially when certain queries at work necessitate me having to mediate something between two adults.

I have a long weekend coming up at the end of August, which I’m really looking forward to. Quality family time is a term I’m appreciating more and more these days. We have also booked Zack’s first holiday… more on that later but it should be tonnes of fun!

In the meantime, thanks for reading 🙂
