We are well and truly into Autumn now. It’s the season of jumpers, hot baths, and pumpkin spice lattes on every street corner (you can get lattes on street corners, right?)
This week saw an interesting event… a hurricane picked up sand from the Sahara Desert and carried it over the UK. While this phenomenon isn’t new, it’s certainly remarkable when it happens with such a high concentration.
The result was a bright-ish Monday afternoon being turned dark yellow. Over Central London, it even turned an eery red. Sadly, my phone’s camera isn’t quite sufficient to demonstrate just how red the daylight was.
It was both awesome and creepy!
Work also saw an interesting development with me recently hitting 10 years at my company. For this, I got amusingly ambushed by two managers at my desk on a sleepy Friday afternoon. I received an extra day of holiday, £250 of vouchers, and an incredibly lavish meal at a restaurant called The Madison.
I assure you… this menu is not typical of what I normally pay for lunch! 😛 Usually I’m happy with a sandwich or bowl of cereal. But since I was being treated, I didn’t hold back.
I ordered a £16 glass of Yamazaki whisky (because Japanese whisky is the best) and some lobster ravioli, as I’ve never tried lobster before. Can I now see why it’s such a delicacy?
Nope, not really. Lobster sucks. It’s chewy and weird and not enjoyable at all.
Dessert was much better 🙂 A rich chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and butternut squash puree. Yes… butternut squash! It sounds bizarre but I’m telling you, it was delicious!
During the weekend, my wife Elle and I popped into Lush to see what was new. With Halloween approaching, there are some funky items in stock.
We didn’t get one of these cat bath things, but we did use a bath bomb called Thundersnow, which had a relaxing chocolate mint scent.
I think Zack enjoyed looking at the colour of it 🙂
Last of all…. This week I got an interesting notification from WordPress.
Yikes! That’s a lot of likes! Thank you (yes YOU) for all the reading/likes/comments. I appreciate you stopping by my blog. It will be two years old in a couple of months and I hope to continue reading/writing on WordPress for many more 🙂
That’s all for now, folks. Until next time!
