Hello, January

Well look at that. Somehow, we are already two weeks into January.

Boy, life goes by in the blink of an eye. It feels like only a few moments ago that I was looking forward to Christmas… only a few moments ago that I was enjoying our traditional Christmas Eve takeaway… only a few moments ago that I was staring at the Christmas tree twinkling in the corner of the living room…

Suddenly, it’s the second week of January. All the decorations are long gone and stored away. Everyone is back to work, including my wife Elle who has now concluded her year of maternity leave. And so we find ourselves on the long march to warm weather. And a long march it shall be.

Still, there have been some nice things to enjoy this January… the biggest of which was our son Zack turning one year old!

What? How? When?

He’s supposed to be a tiny little baby who can’t even crawl. WHEN DID HE GET SO BIG?

To celebrate this milestone, Elle and I arranged a big birthday party and naming ceremony for him. We hired out a venue and invited family and friends for this special occasion. The naming ceremony was informal and and touching – exactly what we wanted.

We made sure there was plenty of food and drink for everyone to enjoy.

Rather than buy a cake, I asked my mother and Elle’s mother to bake one each for Zack. They were a big hit with the guests!

It was a great day spent with people we cared about. Zack left with lots of presents to play with and Elle and I were left with a lot of beer, wine and cake to take home. How terrible πŸ˜›

Elle and I have a big goal for 2018. I’ll write about it later in the year. I sense the coming months will be difficult but oh so worth it once it’s all done and dusted.

I hope your January is going well πŸ™‚ Thanks for reading, folks!
