Cold winds. Brown leaves. Getting up when it’s still dark… There’s no doubt about it. Autumn is finally here.
In the wake of summer’s reluctant departure, autumn finally descended upon London halfway through September.
I’ve been on WordPress for two and a half years now and it has been my observation that autumn is the season bloggers love most. I see far more blogs about autumn than winter, spring or summer. Regular readers of mine will probably know that my favourite season is summer 🙂
So why is there so much love for autumn? Well many reasons that I’ve read about… and to be honest I agree with a lot of them 🙂
Pumpkin spice lattes are a particular favourite in the blogosphere (and with my wife). Starbucks has a new maple latte this year, which I prefer.
It’s always nice to cuddle up on the couch and watch something together. Autumn heralds the arrival of new dramas on TV, and this year a BBC show called Bodyguard has captured our attention. It’s really compelling!
The Great British Bake-Off is another one we watch together. Each week has a theme (such as cake week, dessert week, bread week etc) so my wife and I purchase a treat to enjoy as we watch.
Coming in from the cold.
I feel that one of the most luxurious yet overlooked things is being able to enjoy a warm cosy home when it’s cold outside. I try to never take it for granted, especially given how many unfortunate souls don’t have such an amenity.
Red wine is my favourite type of alcoholic drink for autumn, as it’s enjoyed at room temperature. It’s also a long drink that can be sipped slowly, so one glass is enough to keep me going for an entire evening.
So those are a few of my favourite things about autumn. Thanks for reading, folks!
