Happy Halloween, readers!
By the time you read this Halloween will be over. But my goodness, did I have fun!
I’ve never really known what it’s like to receive families trick or treating on Halloween. Things are very different when you’ve lived in an apartment block largely inhabited by couples and single adults.
Now that we’ve moved to a house in a quieter residential area, I’ve just experienced for the first time what it’s like to have vampires and fairies knocking on my door!
I had so much fun handing out chocolates and sweets to everyone!
I can’t really explain why. I was just buzzing off the atmosphere. It made me feel all warm inside. Parents were standing back to supervise their children as they crowded around the front door to yell “trick or treeeeeaaat!” as soon as I opened it.
I didn’t go so far as to dress up myself, but I did don a Captain America onesie. Because who doesn’t love The Cap?
My wife and I carved a pumpkin to leave on our doorstep so people would know “Here there be candy.”
It was fun carving it together!
Although I don’t think our son Zack was overly excited by it…
For Halloween, we chose the most obvious colour of wine to accompany the evening.
Once the trick or treating was over and Zack was fast asleep, we ended the evening with an episode of The X-Files.
I think Halloween is going to become a much bigger deal for us now we have a child. I’m looking forward to many more in the future! 🙂
Thanks for reading, folks!
