Entertainment in 2019

Okay, so 2019 is off to a bad start. The consequences I feared at work have finally struck, while our home life continues to be a daily stream of disruption.

But as per my new year’s resolution, I’m not going to get bogged down in negativity. I’ll keep working hard and pressing ahead. All I can do is my best, right? 🙂

Looking ahead, there are some really fun things coming up in the world of entertainment. So I’ve made a list of the things I’m actively excited about in 2019.

Distant Worlds

I’m returning to the Royal Albert Hall this spring to hear some beautiful compositions from the Final Fantasy series performed by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. I’m incredibly excited to attend one of these concerts as I’ve loved them in the past, but they don’t often take place in the UK. There was one in 2017 but unfortunately things didn’t work out for me.

Avengers Endgame

Despite feeling a tad deflated by how Infinity War turned out, it was still an enjoyable romp. I’m always excited to see a new Avengers film and Endgame is no exception. How this 11 year story will be wrapped up is quite frankly beyond me. But it’ll be fun finding out!

The latest expansion to Final Fantasy XIV looks incredible! We appear to be headed towards the climax of the main story, meaning this could very well begin the ‘final season’ of the game. The latest story update, A Requiem for Heroes, was excellent and has set up the story nicely for this epic tale. July is going to be a fun month!

For many years of my life, the Eurogamer Expo was one of the biggest highlights of the year. It was great fun to meet up with gaming buddies and even staff from Sony and development studios like Media Molecule. We’d play games, have drinks and even occasionally receive free merchandise.

I haven’t been for a few years. The former mayor Boris Johnson pushed to have Earl’s Court Exhibition Hall torn down and replaced with luxury flats (that the locals can’t afford). In addition to screwing over local businesses who lost their foot traffic and local residents who had to be relocated, this also forced EGX to relocate to Birmingham. But at last it returns home in 2019, this time to the ExCel Centre. So I’m definitely going! (Also… Boris Johnson can fuck off).

Keep rolling, 2019 😎
