It’s April and hype levels are building for my most anticipated film of the year… Avengers Endgame!
Earlier today, my wife texted me to say tickets had gone on sale. I’m incredibly thankful for that, given what happened shortly after…
Talk about a cultural phenomenon! According to Twitter, every major cinema chain had their website overloaded with traffic. Luckily I managed to secure the tickets we wanted 🙂
I keep thinking about how this is the end of a long long journey. I remember being pleasantly surprised when I first watched Iron Man in 2008, seeing what a good job they did with it.
I remember feeling utterly elated in 2012 when the first Avengers movie blew me away with The Battle of New York.
There have been so many high points and low points during this roller coaster ride.
And all the while, through every phase, they have been building up to this finale.
The MCU will go on, of course. There are already new films planned as well as new TV shows. But I feel like Endgame marks the end of an era.
I have considered these years to be ‘The Golden Age’ of superhero cinema… a bubble that will eventually burst, after which the Avengers buzz will start to fizzle and die down.
Maybe it will and maybe it won’t. But even if it does, I will always remember one of my favourite quotes from the MCU.
Whatever happens, I can’t wait to see this film!
Bring on Endgame 🙂
