Date Night at Everyman Cinema

My favourite cinema used to be the Odeon Lounge at Whiteley’s.

My wife and I had some wonderful times there as an extravagant treat. But sadly it was shut down last year, so we’ve been looking elsewhere for that ‘luxury cinema’ experience.

So we decided to check out Everyman Cinema in Crystal Palace.

This venue is significantly better than your average multiplex. The bar areas look cosy and inviting, allowing you to relax with a drink before taking it into your screen.

In the screen we went to, the seats were mostly couches so couples could snuggle up. I have to admit they were very comfortable. They were also close to the screen so everyone got a good view.

While the venue was nice, the customer service I received was quite poor. It would take a long time to explain everything that went wrong, but the staff had clearly told me incorrect information about ordering food and were trying to cover up their own mistakes by lying.

As a result, I missed entire scenes of Avengers Endgame, ducking out 2-3 times when I didn’t need to. Luckily this was my 2nd viewing, otherwise I would have been fuming.

The manager gave me some free chocolate buttons as an apology, which was nice. I choose to believe we just caught them on an ‘off day’ as the staff did seem quite nice… just rushed off their feet. Nobody even checked our tickets. We were just able to walk in and grab a couch (don’t worry – we did have tickets).

Overall, I’d recommend Everyman Cinema for a nice relaxing treat. I just wouldn’t recommend ordering food as that created a number of time consuming problems for us. If all you’re doing is getting some drinks and snacks at the bar, however, I think you’ll be in for a lovely experience πŸ™‚ I’d be happy to go back there myself.

As for the film, you can check out my thoughts here. If you’re a regular reader, you may already be familiar with how big a Marvel fan I am πŸ˜›

Until next time, thanks for reading, folks! πŸ™‚

  1. I’m an Everyman member and go to the Canary Wharf venue regularly. I agree about the comfort level, but also about the customer service. You have to get there early and pick up your own drinks and food, otherwise there’s a chance it won’t turn up – or will arrive quite late into the film. They’re super friendly, but not particuarly organised. I keep going though, because I’m all about the films and not the snacks (which are hideously expensive anyway!). Glad you enjoyed the evening overall. πŸ™‚

    1. Interesting! I was curious if this was just a one-off bad day with this particular venue… it sounds like it isn’t. Thanks for the insight πŸ™‚ The next time we go, it’ll just be drinks for us.
