In addition to EGX last weekend, I also attended an expo at London Olympia called The Baby Show.
This is something my wife Elle and I have attended a couple of times in the past. We didn’t really need to attend this one, but she won free tickets and I absolutely love expos! So off we went 🙂
In addition to picking up some useful items and getting freebies, there was a nice play area for our daughter Robyn.
The showfloor was very well laid out with tonnes of space for people with buggies to move around.
But the real highlight of the trip for me was the labour pain simulator.
I’ve always been singing praises for Elle’s strength and courage during childbirth. When we found out they had a Tens machine to simulate the pain for men, it was a chance to put my money where my mouth was.
That being said… I was still pretty hesitant 😅 But it was to be supportive of her so I didn’t want to back down in spite of my trepidation!
We started on the lower setting and worked our way up from 1-8, with 8 being maximum pain. The staff had already filled me with dread about how previous men had screamed and kicked over their apparatus at level 5.
Fortunately, I was able to go all the way up to level 8 without screaming or panicking in front of the camera. I did want to swear when I got to level 8, but that’s it.
Don’t get me wrong… I’m not showing off here. Experiencing this pain for two minutes is obviously not the same as experiencing it for several hours. Anyway, I’m glad I went through it. And crucially so was Elle 🙂
The things we do for love, eh? 😅 Thanks for reading, folks!
