5 Year Blogoversary

Today, my blog is five years old.

It has been a tumultuous five years to be sure. My life has undergone so much change over the last five years that when I look back at my 2016 posts, my life is virtually unrecognisable.

Since then, I’ve become a father. I’ve taken on a new job role. I sold my first home and moved into a house. I lost my job and my entire career. We lost family members. My wife and I had a second child. And then, of course, came 2020 (which I don’t need to tell you about).

And so here we are at the end of the year. New Year’s Eve is right around the corner, and while I imagine most people are desperate for this year to end, I’m not expecting 2021 to be any better.

It’s not that I’m being Deputy Downer. It’s just that I’ve been here before. 2018 was the worst year of my life and things didn’t get better because the calendar suddenly changed. That’s not how life works. 2019 sucked just as much and it wasn’t until June that things got better.

It would be lovely to send 2020 off with a bang, but honestly I’m bracing myself for next year. It’s going to be a bad one.
